The completion of editing!

Tina ticking us off the list of editing after all the hard-work!

Facebook page- Klaudia

Klaudia has made a facebook page to promote and advertise our film. The public can follow our filming and editing. They can also get to know more about the film. There are uploads of pictures and videos of when we were filming. There's even a photoshoot of the doll included. Our Instagram is connected to it.

evaluation of rough cut 2

I think that there's still a lot of work to be done with our title sequence. We need to change the colour and font of our title credits so that they match the shots. We are going to work more on the title of our film and how it appears to make it more interesting. Also, I think that we should get rid off the shots of the little girl as they tell away too much. The audience would know too much about the film at the beginning and could then expect what's going to happen. Our title sequence is meant to be discrete and those shots of the girl begin to tell a story. I think that during our next lesson after we finish with all the corrections above, we are going to work on the sound more. Sound is very important especially in horror films as it builds tension, so we will work on sound layering. So we will add sound effects of swings squeaking etc.

Fourth day of editing- Tina

During the 3 hour lesson we:
-added black and white effects on the memory scenes.
-finished off the titles with the chosen font from the internet

In this first video , we have also changed the shot of the little girl from the memories into black and white to show it is a memory. We also are making the shots a bit brighter.

We also took a font from the internet that is suitable to be our font for the titles. We are adding all the titles with the new font and positioning them in place .

evaluation of the rough cut 1

For as far an now, my group have put in all the scenes we want to have in order and we are working on cutting them shorter, extending some and adding a bit of effects to make them brighter.

We have about a 2 minute rough cut without much sound on it. We are due to put on a drone and other non diegetic rhythms that would hook the audience and represent the genre we chose.

In my opinion my we have a lot of shaky footage so we would have to crop some shots and extend them to be able to get them as still as possible. However some of the shaky shots look good with the horror genre, so we will be careful where we place them in the sequence to get the most out of them.

For the next couple of weeks we will focus on putting titles in order and adding diegetic sound such as squeaky swings with the swing shot.

Second day of editing evaluation- Ilona

                                    Second day of editing

On the second day of editing , we mainly focused on putting all the shots in the order we want it to be and creating the titles. In order to create the titles we firstly drafted the titles and the order they should be in. Then we started to add the titles on different shots and we were experimenting on the different fonts we could have and colours. For now we chose the colour black for our titles. I Ilona was doing the editing while Klaudia and Tina was blogging. I did not face any difficulties with editing , however it did take me time to get use to editing. I also included a drone to our title sequence just to add sound , and see if it sets the right atmosphere. As we did not want sound from the original shots which we filmed , I muted the original sound.

First day of editing evaluation- Klaudia

On our first day of editing we began with putting all our shots onto our video drive and having a look through them. We sorted the shots out and decided as a group on which ones we are going to use. We decided on this by looking if the lighting is good, if the shot is still and not shaky, if we have reached what we wanted to achieve with that shot. After we done that we started putting the shots together in order. This involved a lot of trimming. We filmed a lot of shots so it took a while to go through all and as that was our single lesson we only got to putting all the shots roughly together. Ilona done most of the editing. Klaudia done editing partly and mostly blogging.Tina mostly completed blogs.

fourth day of filming evaluation- tina

On our fourth day and final day of filming we managed to get a huge amount of footage.
Klaudia didn't join us for the morning session so it was only me and Ilona and the doll. We filmed at Barking  Side Cemetery and Church again and met up at 11 am.
This time we managed to complete the scenes we could do last time because we didn't have the doll with us on the previous filming at that location.

When we were done we traveled back to angel and met up with Klaudia. during the Thursday media lesson we went to the canal in Angel to film our third outdoor location.
we done a lot of discreet shots that will be edited quick and we also filmed Ilona walking. we did shots of just her feet walking towards the camera, over the shoulder, back view and close ups.
we have a couple of funny bloopers which I don't know if they are appropriate to post because we got interrupted by a magazine journalist which started asking us question and stopped us from filming for a little bit.

However we managed to finish everything from our plan so we were ready to leave and come back to college to check though all the videos we made over the past 2 weeks.

Third day of filming evaluation- Tina

The third day of filming was done by me (Tina). I took the camera home to film my sister (Kristina). She's one of the main actresses playing Lucy (Ilona) when she was younger. She is shown in flashbacks in the title sequence after the doll is introduced.

It was a challenge to get good footage of Kristina because she is young and doesn't fully understand what's going on with the filming. Also, she likes to mess around so I had to be patient. I told her not to look into the camera or speak and to play with the doll as if she doesn't know she is being filmed. This worked at times.

Later on that night I tried to film her again and this time I managed to get decent shots. I decided to do a cut in into her face and the doll and I think that might turn out really successful when editing together later on.

What I could of done better is maybe be more patient instead of forcing Kristina to do it right in that moment, maybe given her some practice time of time to just calm down and understand what I want from her.

second day of filming evaluation- Tina

On the second day of my group filming we landed everything we need to do the night before and we all decided to meet up at Barking station at 10 o'clock as our first location was Barking Side cemetery and church.

At the time that we were all ready and set the sun wasn't bright so we had a perfect light which was not too light but not too dark to create a cold gloomy feeling. However half was though our filming the sun started to come out and that could potentially show on camera and the audience may be confused of why one second it was dark and the next is light. It will be okay because we will be able to edit the lighting when we are editing the shots.

We didn't have any troubles with the camera of filming. The only thing I would say was a slight problem is that when we did over the shoulder shots , we tended to shake a little bit while walking after the character.

When we decided we have nothing more to film outside we re located inside the church (we asked for permission earlier). Here we were able to some shots of the character praying for the dead relative and some close ups of her surroundings such as decorative church walls because we said we want to make the film more discrete than narrative.

Overall we all had equal turns filming shots and filming bloopers. I did a couple of videos as a blog explaining where we are and what we are doing.
I think overall we did very good on this day of filming because surprisingly we did a lot on the cold without complaining and getting tired.

First day of filming evaluation- Tina

On our very first day of filming we filmed during a single lesson therefore we decided to film at a close location, which is a playground in angel near the college. We started off by filming a worms eye view shot of the church next to the playground. We filmed cut- ins in the playground and the doll. We filmed from about 1:30 until 2:40.

Ilona is the main character and she had to make sure she is dressed in role for every single filming day without any outfit changes. we filmed her walking into the playground using over the shudder, we did cut ins and close ups of her face. the doll was involved into the shooting when we placed it on the swing and filmed the doll swinging for about 5-10 seconds of footage.
I took most of the bloopers while Klaudia did 60% of the filming and Ilona did the acting.

The weather was very cold with no sun at all so this was a good time to film as we want this lighting and weather for our title sequence.

Something that we could of done differently is looking at our plan more often too ensure we do not miss out a important shot that is curtail to the sequence.

Blog health check 2

We received our blog health checks and I moved up a grade. According to my teacher Louisa I have: good use of ICT, some detailed, completed planning posts and I have improved my work since the 1st check. However, my weaknesses are: my frequency and order of posting is haphazard, I have little evidence of filming and I have a few posts missing. In order to improve my blog and increase my grade...I need to:

- Re-organise most of my posts and separate them up by date and order of filming.

- Post pitch feedback and evaluation.

- Improve my frequency of posting- aim for 3-4 times weekly.
