Third day of filming evaluation- Tina

The third day of filming was done by me (Tina). I took the camera home to film my sister (Kristina). She's one of the main actresses playing Lucy (Ilona) when she was younger. She is shown in flashbacks in the title sequence after the doll is introduced.

It was a challenge to get good footage of Kristina because she is young and doesn't fully understand what's going on with the filming. Also, she likes to mess around so I had to be patient. I told her not to look into the camera or speak and to play with the doll as if she doesn't know she is being filmed. This worked at times.

Later on that night I tried to film her again and this time I managed to get decent shots. I decided to do a cut in into her face and the doll and I think that might turn out really successful when editing together later on.

What I could of done better is maybe be more patient instead of forcing Kristina to do it right in that moment, maybe given her some practice time of time to just calm down and understand what I want from her.

second day of filming evaluation- Tina

On the second day of my group filming we landed everything we need to do the night before and we all decided to meet up at Barking station at 10 o'clock as our first location was Barking Side cemetery and church.

At the time that we were all ready and set the sun wasn't bright so we had a perfect light which was not too light but not too dark to create a cold gloomy feeling. However half was though our filming the sun started to come out and that could potentially show on camera and the audience may be confused of why one second it was dark and the next is light. It will be okay because we will be able to edit the lighting when we are editing the shots.

We didn't have any troubles with the camera of filming. The only thing I would say was a slight problem is that when we did over the shoulder shots , we tended to shake a little bit while walking after the character.

When we decided we have nothing more to film outside we re located inside the church (we asked for permission earlier). Here we were able to some shots of the character praying for the dead relative and some close ups of her surroundings such as decorative church walls because we said we want to make the film more discrete than narrative.

Overall we all had equal turns filming shots and filming bloopers. I did a couple of videos as a blog explaining where we are and what we are doing.
I think overall we did very good on this day of filming because surprisingly we did a lot on the cold without complaining and getting tired.

First day of filming evaluation- Tina

On our very first day of filming we filmed during a single lesson therefore we decided to film at a close location, which is a playground in angel near the college. We started off by filming a worms eye view shot of the church next to the playground. We filmed cut- ins in the playground and the doll. We filmed from about 1:30 until 2:40.

Ilona is the main character and she had to make sure she is dressed in role for every single filming day without any outfit changes. we filmed her walking into the playground using over the shudder, we did cut ins and close ups of her face. the doll was involved into the shooting when we placed it on the swing and filmed the doll swinging for about 5-10 seconds of footage.
I took most of the bloopers while Klaudia did 60% of the filming and Ilona did the acting.

The weather was very cold with no sun at all so this was a good time to film as we want this lighting and weather for our title sequence.

Something that we could of done differently is looking at our plan more often too ensure we do not miss out a important shot that is curtail to the sequence.

Blog health check 2

We received our blog health checks and I moved up a grade. According to my teacher Louisa I have: good use of ICT, some detailed, completed planning posts and I have improved my work since the 1st check. However, my weaknesses are: my frequency and order of posting is haphazard, I have little evidence of filming and I have a few posts missing. In order to improve my blog and increase my grade...I need to:

- Re-organise most of my posts and separate them up by date and order of filming.

- Post pitch feedback and evaluation.

- Improve my frequency of posting- aim for 3-4 times weekly.
