The title sequence needs to engage and excite the viewer before the film begins. If the producers achieve this, their audience will have a positive mind set for the film and therefore they will enjoy the rest of the film. A successful title sequence will make you forget about your surroundings and make you feel like you're in the movie. Title sequences set the tone and atmosphere of the film. They tell us the genre of the film as well as introducing the key characters in the film.

In a film's opening title sequence, we expect to see intense music and a good use of a range of colours that will engage us. Additionally, we expect the title sequence to set up questions so we are more engaged in the film. A good title sequence progresses seamlessly into the film.
